On 20 March 2020, ILO ACT/EMP issued a guide for employers’ organisations to use as guidance with their members on how to ensure business continuity and protect workers. It also answered questions relating to workplace relations and occupational safety and health. The guide was developed based on a series of questions and answers (and inspired by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Employers’ Guide). It can be tailored by employers’ organisations to include applicable national laws and regulations developed during the crisis. Among the recommendations contained in the guide, employers are invited to assess the potential risks of business disruption and to draw up a business continuity plan.
Deborah France-Massin, ACT/EMP Director, commented this publication as follows: “to date the guide has been used and customised by employers’ organisations worldwide. We are pleased that the guide has been so useful for our constituents with their members during the global crisis”.
