According to this year’s report, resilience is a new core competence to withstand the impact of climate change and digital transformation. It emphasises the importance of supporting individuals in acquiring a wide range of competencies at various skill levels to improve the capacity to respond to emerging needs in society and labour markets.
The Report highlights that the demand for AI development and implementation professionals, which has already increased significantly from 2019 to 2022, will increase further by 2030. These skills are needed globally despite some geographical differences between EU countries.
The report also highlights the importance of participating in training programmes.
In 2021, less than half (4 in 10) of adults in OECD countries said they had undertaken some training in the previous year.
The acquisition of new skills leads to greater motivation of workers and, at the same time, a possible acceleration in achieving company goals.
Finally, the Report includes recommendations to help countries facilitate workers' transitions between different sectors and occupations and empower individuals through skill investments.
