Las políticas y directrices emergentes y cambiantes en materia de seguridad y salud en el trabajo (SST) se encuentran en el punto de mira de los líderes empresariales y de salud pública, tanto nacionales como internacionales, y ocupan un lugar destacado en esta edición.
A escala mundial, la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) publicó recientemente un informe sobre la importancia de la SST en relación con una transición justa para salvaguardar a los trabajadores y mejorar la productividad.
A nivel nacional, Irlanda adoptó recientemente una decisión inicial sobre la Ley de Licencia por Enfermedad de 2022, que aclara la relación entre las prestaciones legales por enfermedad y aquellas ofrecidas por los empleadores individuales. Asimismo, establece los criterios para evaluar estas prestaciones.
En Colombia, la Corte Constitucional declaró el derecho a la desconexión como un derecho humano fundamental, sin importar el cargo o las funciones que desempeñe la persona. Este derecho está estrechamente relacionado con la salud y el descanso, con independencia de las condiciones contractuales del empleo.
La ciudad de Nueva York, en Estados Unidos, también tomó medidas para abordar las preocupaciones en materia de salud y seguridad mediante la actualización de la normativa relacionada con la Ley de Licencia Devengada por Enfermedad y Seguridad promulgada en 2020.
La protección social es otro tema crucial que se aborda en esta edición. En el estado indio de Rajastán, la Ley de Registro y Bienestar de los Trabajadores de Plataformas viene a complementar el Código de Seguridad Social aprobado en 2022.
A nivel mundial, numerosas empresas multinacionales están tomando la iniciativa de ofrecer a sus empleados un paquete de protección social estandarizado y completo que va más allá de la normativa local. Estos acuerdos dan prioridad a la conciliación entre la vida personal y profesional, los permisos parentales y para cuidadores, la protección de la salud y un firme compromiso con la defensa de los derechos humanos de los trabajadores. Dos importantes acuerdos mundiales en los sectores financiero y de seguros ponen aún más de relieve esta tendencia.
