Kenya: Federation of Kenya Employers and the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding

  • On 13 May 2024, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) and the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at FKE Headquarters in Nairobi.
  • The MOU was signed by Ms. Jacqueline Mugo, Executive Director & CEO of FKE and new IOE president (since June 2024) and Mr. Paolo Salvai, ILO Programme Director in Turin, with the attendance of Ms. Caroline Njuki, ILO Kenya Country Director, and other notable members of the FKE Faculty.
  • This collaboration heralds the launch of the International Postgraduate Certificate in Industrial Relations in Kenya, a programme that both FKE Faculty and the ILO will facilitate.

The programme is structured to provide a thorough and immersive educational experience. It features physical classes in Kenya, virtual sessions conducted by ILO Faculty, and additional in-person classes in Turin, Italy. This arrangement ensures that participants receive a well-rounded education, preparing them for success in the global labour market.

Ms. Mugo highlighted the importance of promoting the Decent Work Agenda and compliance with ILO Conventions, emphasising that the partnership with ITCILO has established a solid foundation for labour skills development in Kenya.

The programme is vital for enhancing the skills of human resource professionals and labour relations practitioners in Kenya.

The collaboration between FKE and ITCILO represents a forward-thinking approach to labour education, aiming to create a more skilled and globally aware workforce in Kenya.
